Election Day

I HATE presidential elections. The reason behind my hating them is the fact that I think our system is so beyond flawed that we end up hurting ourselves time and time again. I think it is ridiculous that we divide within our own country. By that I mean, democrat/republican. I hate that the majority of people always say well vote for the "lesser of 2 evils" I honestly wish that all of the different "parties" would be done away with. If instead we could look past the different parties and actually look at what candidate would truly be best for the job than maybe we could get back on the right track. I hear so many people say I'm republican/democrat and they ALWAYS vote that way, I think it is sad that they stick with the same thing they always are instead of giving ALL candidates a fair chance at truly winning their vote. Now don't get me wrong I LOVE this country that I live in, I just think it is silly that we separate and divide within our own system. I truly wish we would do what our pledge says and stand united, instead of divided. There is always either a democrat/republican in office, most people don't even bother looking at the other candidates because they don't think they can win so why bother looking. Did you know that in 1992 Ross Perot lead in the polls for president up until the actual election happened. Why is that? Because he wasn't democrat OR republican so he had no chance of becoming president. I think the entire thing is absurd, I truly believe that WE as a COUNTRY need to quit thinking in the "lesser of 2 evils" and actually vote for who WE believe to be the best person for the job whether that person be democrat, republican, or an independent, it shouldn't matter, until WE do that then our votes truly DON'T matter. Sadly though until our country actually does away with this separation (or the country as a whole decides to act differently) we are going to be in the same vicious cycle election after election.
